Are you feeling the discrimination and hate because of the immigration issue in the USA? Do you feel that even though you are American, people still view you as an illegal immigrant? Do you think a good majority of the rest of America hates us? Tell me what do you think.
NO.
Never felt discrimminated against on a personal level.
The internet doesn't count cause there's too many posers that normally wouldn't say shit out in the street.
I get asked the same stupid questions time....and...time again. "Are you from Mexico?" Even though I'm a 4th Generation Mexican, and I am proud American; I don't let it get to me 'cause you're going to deal with know-nothings, and stupidity on a daily basis. All I can tell you is be all the Mexican you can be, and be all the American you can be at the same time. In the end, it will save you a headache that you didn't need in the first place.

Idiot...He didn't asked if people confused you for a person that was born in Mexico. He asked if people discriminated against you because of this whole illegal immirant issue.
Yea if you're brown and/or look hispanic somebody might just ask you if you're from Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, etc, etc. Are you supposed to "look American" just because you were born here?

Fool! It's within the same spectrum, and it still falls within the same paramaters. People are always going to confuse you with an illegal Mexican (Let's be real about it) The majority of the Illegals in this country happen to be Mexican Nationals. Let's not get shit twisted. Are you even a Mexican?

This is a legitimate question which I will answer without calling people names and proclaiming some paranoid conspiracy theory about you.
Being that the bulk of my life's experience resides in Chicago, I would say that no, people do not see me as an undocumented immigrant. I also do not feel that there is an abject hate against me per se, but there is definitely a hostility towards recent Mexican Nationals as one poster put it.
For now, most americans don't really know what to make of the situation, it's an incredibly complex issue that involves a whole mess of half baked policies. I would however, safely assume that due to the recent economic crisis, there is definitely going to be a lot of tension between Mexicanos (regardless of where they may be born) and "americans".
I suggest checking out a few white supremacist sites to get a gist of what their main concern is.

Sure. I'm a third-generation MA; my grandparents came here legally or were already living in the US prior to annexation. I'm not like most chicanos who can't decide if they're Mexican or American. I KNOW I'm American. But I also acknowledge my roots. Sure I've been called names, been told to go back to my country, spoken to like an idiot in Spanish, just based on my physical appearance. If I were a third generation German-American or Irish-American, it would be completely different. Yes, the illegal situation has made most Anglos have a more negative view on chicanos as a whole.
It's funny, because my family has been living in the southwest longer than most Anglos and Mexicanos. That's why I think it's bull when you see these illegal Mexicanos coming to California protesting and saying that this is their land, their ancestors lived here, was stolen, etc, when they're from a completely different part of North America, usually central or south Mexico. I feel as if they're trying to claim something that isn't theirs, especially with this whole aztlan argument. I have historical PROOF that my ancestry is here. I'd much rather side with the Chinese, Irish, and Native Americans who have been living here for generations and helped build this state vs the new comer Mexican immigrants who want to "reclaim" something that was never theirs.

I think the majority are cool with immigrants no matter where their from. I am an American with Latin origins and my loyalty is too America.
I agree with Vain on this as well. Native Americans have a claim to America and should be treated with respect between the fighting against overwhelming force mixed with a technology advantage for their enemy and all the diseases they brought NAs have been through too much sh't and now they have one of the highest drug addiction problems in all of America it is sad that is why it annoys me when I see people with origins from Central or Southern Mexico telling Americans(which includes Native Americans) that this is their land. The Native American tribes that are alive now were the nice ones who wanted to share the land while the warlike ones died out and to this day NAs still share their land with us so it is annoying when others come in and say the land rightfully belongs to them.
We are not arrogant enough to believe we are all powerful and we are willing to learn and adapt. When we came to America we willing adopted some of the beliefs of the people living their if the beliefs were the best thing for our people.
