It wasn't supposed to be this way. We weren't supposed to end up this way... but things change.
"Why till now are you telling me this?! Why till now that my life is finally together?!" Jasmin yelled.
"I know, I know! I'm sorry Jasmin, but when they told me you were getting married I went crazy, I can't see my life without you." Andres told her as tears streamed down his face.
"You should've thought of that three years ago Andres, we had a shit load of chances to get back together and you let them all pass by." Jasmin cried, "Why were you so stupid?! You knew how much I loved you, and I knew you loved me the same way. Todo por tu orgullo."
Andres just cried and put his head down, "I know and you don't know how bad I regret it Jas, I'll regret it for the rest of my life."
"Well that's too damn bad, fuiste el amor de mi vida, pero ya es demasiado tarde. I love my fiance, I'm sorry."
----------------------------------------------------- A few weeks later..
"Damn, your dress is hella pretty! Aww you're gonna be one hot bride." Lorena said as she looked at Jasmin and turned back to the dress.
"Haha, thanks it took me forever to find the perfect one," Jasmin took the dress off the hanger "I'ma go put it on pa' modelar te lo."
Lorena snapped her fingers, "Hurry up then."
Jasmin laughed and walked into the dressing room.
"Damn nigga what's taking you so long?" Lorena called out impatiently, "It ain't you're wedding day yet, you don't gotta get all dolled up for me."
"Hold the fuck up!" Jasmin called out "Alright, you ready?"
"I been ready.."
Lore and I grew up in the ghetto .. Can you tell? haha
Jasmin walked out in her beautiful wedding dress, she looked like a princess.
"So... how do I look?" she asked with a smile.
Lorena was speechless for a second, "Fabolous!!!!!! Wow, I can't believe that my best friend is getting married. Do you remember when we would talk about this when we were younger?"
"I do, damn dude, that was only a few years ago. Look at us now, we're all grown and shit haha"
While Lorena kept talking about back in the days I stared at myself in the mirror, I was happy. I was getting married to a wonderful, successful, handsome man who loved me. But why was Andres still in the back of my mind? I was suddenly inturrupted from my thoughts...
"Hello?! Are you listening to me??" Lorena said as she snapped her fingers.
Jasmin giggled at the fact that she noticed she wasn't paying attention.
"Oh, I'm sorry se me fue la onda. Hey, you hungry? Cuz I'm starving!"
"Cuando no?" she said rolling her eyes.
"C'mon jerk, lunch is on me."
They went to a little burger joint near by. They sat down at a table next to the window while they waited for their order to be ready.
I couldn't help but day dream .. That last time I saw Andres really got to me..
"What if we would've gotten back together? Man, my mind is just all fucked up right now.."
"Que tienes?" Lorena asked concerned.
"Damn she noticed"
Jasmin sighed, "Pues ya vez.."
Lorena knew exactly what she was talking about, "Damn, this whole situation is so fucked up. How inconsiderate of him to do this to you knowing that you're getting married in a few months. He's being so selfish."
"I know. Man, que va ser de mi vida Lore? No se ni que pensar." she put her head in her hands.
"Todavia lo quieres?"
She looked up. The question had caught her off gaurd. She hesitated for a bit, "... I ... No, I don't .. Ugh! I don't know Lore!"
"Jasmin, what about Enrique? You can't let this little incident fuck up what you have now."
"I know, I know! But Lore, this wasn't just a 'little incident' he was my high school sweet heart, the love of my life. How can anyone expect me to stop loving him?"
"I know how you feel, no one can really tell you what to do. Lo unico que te puedo aconsejar es que hagas lo que tu corazon te diga, just think things through a lot before you make any serious decisions."
Jasmin stared out the window, "Fucking shit dude."
Jasmin tried bolcking out any and all stressful thoughts for the rest of the day, stressing out wouldn't do her any good.
She opened the door to her house and threw her purse on the couch.
"Ama! Ya llegue." she called out as she walked in.
Her mom walked into the kitchen, "Tienes hambre? Apenas iba a calentar las tortillas para comer."
"No thanks, Comi hace ratito."
She sat on the counter as she watched her mom get everything ready, something she had always done since she was little.
"Ay mija, desde chiquita te sientas ahi nomas viendome cocinar, mejor bajate de ahi y ayudame." her mother told her with her hand on her hip.
Jasmin hopped off the counter, "Haha sorry ma' .. Te ayudo con las tortillas?"
Her mom smiled and stared at her while she got the tortillas out of the fridge.
"Que ma?"
"Nada mija, nomas estaba pensando que en unos meses ya no vas a estar ahi sentadita viendome cocinar" she said teary eyed.
"Ay ama" Jasmin walked to her and hugged her, "Don't be sad, voy a venir diario a perturbar te, you're gonna have to kick me out. lol"
Her mom laughed, "Ay chiquita. I love you, you know that?"
"I love you too mami" she said as she kissed her mothers forehead.
My mom and I have always been really close, she was my best friend and I was hers, damn .. We are really gonna miss eachother when I move out..
"Y que a pasado con Andres?"
Jasmin shrugged her shoulders, "Pues que? Nada, no hemos hablado desde ese dia. Man ma, por que hasta ahorita se decidio en decirme esto? Que pendejo fue."
"I know mija, pobresito de todos modos. Pero que te dije? I told you que se iba arrepentir. Pero too bad porque ya es muy tarde."
"Yeah..."
"Ademas, con el nunca ibas a tener un buen futuro. Mira, Enrique se graduo del colegio, tiene buen trabajo, es trabajador, te adora y es igual de alegre que tu. Que mas quieres?"
"Yeah ya se ama.. ya se." she said with a sigh.
Her mom stared at her, she knew her daughter well...
"O que mija, todavia lo quieres?"
"Not this question again."
"Que?" Jasmin looked up and as she did she burned her finger on the stove, "Ahh! Hijo de su madre!"
"Ay Jasmin, por que no te fijas lo que haces."
"Fuck man" she said as she sucked on her finger.
She quickly ran to the sink and put it under the cold water.
"No me contestaste la pregunta."
She hesitated because she knew her mom wouldn't like the answer. She took a deep breath.
"Pienso que todavia siento algo por el." she finally said.
"Mmmm mija."
She looked down, "Nunca lo deje de querer..."
"Y Enrique que? Apoco nomas porque este por fin se dio cuenta que te quiere lo vas a dejar?"
"No ma I didn't say that, I'm just really confused right now. Try and understand this was a big shock to me."
"I do mija, it's just that I want what's best for you."
"Ma!" Jasmins younger brother walked in the kitchen inturrupting their conversation, "Mi pa quiere saber si ya esta la comida."
"Dile que ya, ahorita voy para aya, llevensen estas cosas que vamos a comer aya afuerita."
"Wud up bruh."
"Hey wassup, oh i saw Quique at the mall today."
"The mall? What the hell was he doing at the mall?" she asked as they walked outside to the back.
"Damn, you got him on a short leash, chill dude. He bought you something."
Jasmin laughed, "No I didn't mean it like that. Uuu what he buy me??"
He leaned in close to her ear "Well I'm not supposed to tell you but its.."
Jasmin leaned in excitedly "What?!"
"Its .. SIKE! I'm not gonna tell you, its a surprise duh!" he said with a smile.
"Ay Chuy! You're messed up. I thought we was friends" she said jokingly.
"Oh we is!" he laughed, "You know who else I saw?" Chuy told her as he set the plates their mom gave them at the table.
"Who?"
"Andres, he went to the school the other day to pick up his sister."
Jasmin stayed quiet as she put everything she was carrying on the table.
"He asked about you."
She looked up "You talked to him?! Why?"
"Well I saw him and he said wassup, nimodo de ignorarlo that would be messed up."
"So what he say?"
"Na, well he just asked how I've been and said that I've grown hella, you know, shit like that."
"And....?"
"Oh, and he asked how you were and how the wedding was coming along. I didn't tell him about the wedding though, I knew you would get mad so I just acted dumb."
"Something you're an expert at."
"Hey!"
"Haha I'm just kidding."
"Yeah yeah. Ever since you got engaged you've become a bridezilla, I feel sorry for Quique." he teased.
Jasmin hit him on the head with the paper plate she was holding, "Haha Callese!"

And yet, to say the truth,
reason and love keep little company together nowadays.
After spending some time with her family Jasmin started getting ready for her date with Enrique. Old school jams blared from her room as she got dressed and applied her make-up.
Jasmin was so caught up in getting ready and singing that she didn't notice her mom standing at her door.

"Oh yeah, go girl" her mom said as she danced along with her daughter.
Jasmin laughed, "Hey! Hey! Menealo menealo!!"
"Ya estas lista? Ya llego Enrique, te esta esperando en la sala."
"Oh si? Yeah I'm just about ready, me faltan unas cositas." she said as she put on her earrings, "Tell him I'll only be a minute please."
Jasmins mom left the room and walked into the living room where her husband and Enrique were.
"Y como van las preparaciones de la boda?" Jasmins dad asked.
"No pues todo bien Don, mi papa queria hablar con usted en relacion del vino."
"Orale pues hay me dejas el numero."
Jasmins mom entered the room, "Dice Jasmin que ahorita sale, esa muchacha siempre se tarda"
"Y si verda Doņa? Le digo que de seguro va llegar tarde a nuestra boda"
"Yeah, I wouldn't doubt it. You sure about marrying her man?" Jasmins dad said jokingly.
Quique laughed, "I'm positive."
"Yeah you better say that," the three turned around and saw Jamin walking in from the hallway smiling.
"Wow, you look fi-" he stopped himself, "Beautiful."
She smiled, "You look pretty hot yourself."
"Alright you kids have fun, y se cuidan." Jasmins dad said as he walked them to the door.
"We will pa."
"Buenas noches."
Jasmins dad closed the door behind them.
"Damn babe you look hella good" Quique told her as he held her by her waist.
"Aww thanks, tu tambien te vez bien chulo."
He leaned down and kissed her lips softly.
Even after almost three years he still gives me butterflies whenever he kisses me.
"Alright lets go cuz I'm starving" she told him.
"Ay mi chaparra, you're always starving" he laughed.
They got to they're favorite Italian restaurant and sat at their reserved table. Jasmin told Enrique about her day as they waited for their dinner to get there.
"I found the perfect shoes to go with my dress babe, they are soo cute!" she told him excitedly, "I just hope que no me cansen tanto during the reception."
She kept talking and talking all the while Quique just stared at her.
"You know what I was thinking?" she continued "For our honeymoon we should-"
She stopped when she finally noticed him looking at her.
"Hey! Are you even paying attention feo?"
He flashed her a smile, "Yeah I am."
"Then?"
He leaned across the table and reached for her hands, "This is gonna sound hella corny, and I know you don't like that shit but, I feel like the luckiest guy in the world."
She smiled.
"I'm so happy you accepted when I asked you to marry me. To be honest with you I thought you were gonna say no."
"Why would you think that?"
"I don't know, I just thought you probably didn't feel ready for marriage yet."
"No, I couldn't be more ready. You asked at the perfect time."
Their food arrived and they ate and talked about the wedding. After dinner Enrique decided that it was now time to give her the gift he had bought her earlier that day.
"Hey mi amor, I know that when I asked you marry me it wasn't exactly what you expected," he started.
She looked at him confused, "What do you mean? It was perfect."
"No it wasn't, I didn't have an engagement ring haha."
She giggled, "True."
"But I was saving up to buy you the perfect one." As he said that he reached in his pocket and pulled out a little black box.
Jasmins eyes lit up as he opened it and she saw the gorgeous engagement ring inside.
"Oh my god, it's .. it's.."
"Do you like it?"
She looked up at him with a huge smile on her face, "Babe I love it!"
He placed it on her finger. She held up her hand as she admired her beautiful ring.
She looked at him and caressed his face, "Por que eres tan bueno conmigo?"
"Porque te adoro." He brought her face closer to his and they kissed.
