Re: What kind of Half Mexicans do you know? AND
hm well im not mexican but im maori, french, spanish born in new zealand living in australia, gotta say though, half mexican anything are GORGEOUS. i love the tough mf's in hotted up cars................yummmmmmmmmm x
I am half Mexican Native American (Nahuatl) and half Scots Irish, my dad side is Mexican and my mom's side is Celt. I was born in South Africa (yes really) so you can imagine Apartheid and white supremists were a pain in the ass.
It depends. If they were born in Mexico, yes, they are Mexican. They will tell you they're Mexican and proud of it. If they're born in the US, NO. They're American. Some will retain a few Mexican traditional values while others usually fade into the generic American population with "Mexican" being only a reference to a family member generations back. A lot of halfies don't side with one part of their heritage exclusively.
I mean, sure, you could consider yourself Mexican by heritage, but if you tell anyone from Mexico, "I'm Mexican", they'll disagree and consider you an Anglo, as you were born in a foreign country and raised in a different society. I've had friends who were born in Mexico, but came to live in the US from an early age. Technically, they should be considered Mexicans living abroad, but they were called gringos by the "real" Mexicans. Unfortunately, it takes a lot more than holding onto a few traditions and speaking the language to be considered a true Mexican.
