Chapter Four: You got it bad!
The days went on, and at school we would talk for a while just to say hi and bye. I would ask how she would be doing she would say fine. That’s all. My mind would always go back to the day she said yeah to coffee. I was deep in thought when I seen her in the hallway walking to her class.
“Hey Lay,” I said smiling.
“Hi Miguel,” She said walking by.
“Ugh.” I said I turned around and went after her. “Hey Lay.”
“Yeah?” She said looking at me still walking.
“Well I was wondering if you’d like to have dinner with me, Saturday night?”
“Saturday night?”
“Yeah?” I must have looked anxious because she giggled and nodded her head.
“Yeah, I’ll go.”
“Really?” I said out loud.
“Yeah, but after my cousin’s baby shower okay?”
“So you’ll give me a call?”
“Yeah. What’s your number?” She took out her cell phone and passed it to me. I put in the numbers and hit save.
“I’ll call you then.” She put her phone away and continued to walk to her class. I stared at her again of course.
‘Man this girl has me going crazy for her. I just want to know all about her.’
I walked into my class, it was College Math and I hated it! Marco was in this class with me so it kind of made it better. I took my seat next to him.
“Sup fool?” He asked me.
“Shit, I got a date with her on Saturday.”
“Finally maybe your whoop ass will get some.”
“Nah man, it aint even like that, I just wanna know her. I don’t really wanna get in it you know.”
He stared at me blankly, “Nah, I don’t,” He shook his head, “Man whenever I seen her long brown hair her big light brown eyes her full lips her nicely shaped hour glass body I just wanna ugh!”
“Hey! What I tell you about talking about her that way!”
“Sorry dude! But oh my god.” He ran his hand over his face, “you’ve seen her nigga! She is so fucking hot!”
“Ya okay, I get your point, man stop checking her out.”
“why scared she might like her some Marco instead.”
“No nigga she’s smarter than that to like someone like you.”
“Oh no he didn’t girl!” He turn in his seat to talk to the girl behind us Bianca.
“You believe he just said that to me?”
“Said what?” She said looking up from her desk.
“That this one female is smart enough not to like me.”
Bianca stayed quiet and look over to me. She looked back at Marco and went back to looking at her desk.
“Oh no she didn’t!”
I started laughing.
“You don’t think I’m smart enough?” He asked her.
“Nah, its not that, its just, well who’s the girl?” She asked.
“This one girl that goes here, he names Layloni.”
“Oh her.”
I look up, “What do you mean by that?”
“By what?”
“The way you said it.”
“Well its just, a lot of guy try getting with her and she always turns them down. She just seems to stuck up for me, I guess.”
“She just has a standards not like these other girls who’d fuck anybody who just says hi to them.”
“Yeah I guess okay.” She said rolling her eyes and going back to what she was doing.
Marco and I both turn around in our seats and stared at each other.
“Nice way to scare her off.”
“Shut up, I was just speaking the truth.”
“Your protecting her when she aint even yours to protect.”
“So!”
“Damn nigga your whoop on something you aint never have. You got it bad.” He said shaking his head and started doing something else. I sat there and thought maybe he was right. I shook it off when the teacher walked in.
Saturday came and in the morning I received a call.
“Hello?” I said my voice full of sleep.
“Good morning.”
“Morning.” It was a woman’s voice. I was almost to scared to ask who it was just in case she would hang up.
“Do you know who this is?”
My mind was racing for an answer, who was it? Who did I give my number out to? That’s when it hit me, I gave Layloni my number.
“Yeah Layloni.”
“How did you know?” She asked.
“You’re the only girl I gave my number to.”
“Oh.” She stayed quiet on the phone.
“So what’s up?”
“Well I was going to say that my cousin’s baby shower finishes up like around 5:00 if you still want to take me to dinner.”
“Ofcourse! I’ll pick you up is that cool?”
“Yeah my address is 3923 S. Kilbourn.”
“Okay yeah, I’ll see you at 5 then?”
‘Okay yeah, bye.”
“Bye take care.”
