My Bloody Life is one of thos books that's just hard to put down, you'll read it in two days. It's an easy read, but really entertaining.
Without saying too much, this book is about a boy who comes to Chicago from Puerto Rico in the 70's when the Latin Kings had started to establish themselves as a large gang in Chicago, and when they had abandoned the ideas of protecting the 'hood from a white supremacist gang known as the Great American Youth (GAY Lords).
The book is a pretty gripping yet horrific look at the corruption of one young boy's youth. From experimenting with homosexuality, having random sex, rape, and murder to being homeless, abused, and exploited, this book will just keep you reading,

Definately better than Always Running.

Alwayz Running was based on reality that's why it was a little less interesting. But both East L.A. and Humboldt Park are very similar in how both areas are gang infested and crazy. Funny shit though, in Alwayz Running, the authors son becomes a Spanish Cobra from Humboldt Park after they move to Chicago to get away from gangs.
The Making of A Latin King was exaggerated big time. Very good book though and easy to read like you say. The whole thing with the Spanish Lords and the Gay Lords and how the Ricans you used to go at with the blacks(ViceLOrds) and whites.
Gangbangers that crazy become legends in the streets. I know alot of Kings and nobody can really say for sure who wrote that book, wich pretty much tells you the book is mostly bullshit.
