INT. WHITE 1997 SKY LARK (MOVING) - EVENING
His name is Javier, and he is 29 years old, his skin is light brown, and his head is shaved, his eyes are brown, and he wears long black t-shirt, with light brown Dickie pants, and white with blue check Cortez shoes.
Javier is behind the wheel, driving through the streets of Odessa on Friday night in early September, and the streets are filled with vehicles, most of them rich vehicles belonging to rich kids or higher middle class. But on the sides of the roads walk the poorer people, a young black man talks on a telephone just when the Sky Lark passes him by.
Javier then looks to his left, and sees two rival gangs fighting at Taco Bell just as two patrol cars show up to the scene.
He looks back at the road, starts hitting the brakes because the light has turn to yellow, and then red, and he stops the car to full stop. He looks left and sees young women in a vehicle, starting and hollering while they’re blasting a Lil’ Wayne’s song. He looks right and sees young Mexican woman pushing a baby cart while with four of her children.
Javier looks back at the road. The light turns green, and the Sky Lark goes, and then he gets into left lane, and turns left at the next light.
Going down Andrews Highway he sees thugs being harassed by police officers, letting every one know by their park patrol cars that flash their lights, and then almost gets hit by a expensive truck that zooms left and right through vehicles as if it’s on fire, and then other red light comes up.
The Sky Lark pulls up to the expensive truck, Javier turns to his left and looks, and sees it’s just two Mexicans, a man and woman, and they’re all smiles, and drinking beers, and don’t look to be in a hurry at all.
Javier looks up at the lights.
CUT TO:
EXT. TRAILER PARK (SOUTH SIDE) - NIGHT
On the other side of the tracks the white Sky Lark pulls into a dirt driveway, and Javier gets out and walks over to a very small trailer, and he can hear loud Hip Hop music coming from the place, and walks up almost broken steps as he grabs the door knob to keep himself from falling, and then he knocks.
DANNY’S VOICE: (from inside the trailer) Yeah?! Who the fuck is it?!
JAVIER: It’s me - Javier!
He doesn’t get no respond back, and he waits, and then he hears the door being open from the inside.
Cu-Music: Jay-Z’s ‘Lucifer’.
The door is open, and reveals Danny, a Mexican man in his early 30's, and his head is shaved, and he has a black goatee, and he is 5'10, and skinny.
DANNY: Hey, come on in!
Danny is all smile, because Javier has something Danny has been itching for all day, and Javier steps in, and Danny closes the door.
INT. DANNY’S TRAILER - NIGHT
Javier stands by the door, and to his left is a sofa, and on that sofa is Larry, a young white man closed to Danny’s age, and he has short brown hair, and some hair above his lips, and some on his chin, and he wears a white t-shirt, with blue jeans, and has Play Station game controller in his hands til Javier came in, and he gives the controller to the two Mexican children, aged 7, the boy, and the girl, 9, and the girl takes the controller away from the boy.
Danny leads Javier over to the kitchen, turning left and going passed the television, and over to a very small kitchen, where there is rouble table that takes up a lot of room, and over by the table it is a 31 year old Mexican woman named Adriana, she has long curly black hair, and she is dressed in green tank top, and wearing sweat pants, and she is very happy to see Javier too.
Danny hands Javier the money just as they go over, and Larry passes them, and sits down on the table.
Javier pulls out a small bag that has crack cocaine in it, and he hands it to Danny, and Danny gives it to Adriana who right away pulls out a pipe, and takes a piece and puts the piece on one end, and then lights it up with a lighter.
Danny pulls out a chair and sits down between Adriana, and Larry while Javier, standing, is in between Adriana and Danny.
Javier looks back and sees the little girl is playing the game while the little boy is staring at him.
Javier turns back around.
ADRIANA: You wanna hit?
JAVIER: Naw am good. But that’s all for tonight, right? No late calls three o’clock in the morning?
ADRIANA: We’re good.
JAVIER: All right, well am get going.
Adriana hits the pipe again while Danny and Larry look on, sweating and anxious to hit the pipe also.
Javier goes over to the door, and Danny tells him goodbye, and Javier leaves without a word.
CUT TO:
EXT. TRAILER - NIGHT
Javier is careful in his walk down the steps, then goes over to his vehicle, and gets in.
CUT TO:
EXT. BROWN APARTMENTS (WEST SIDE) - NIGHT
The Sky Lark pulls into a open parking space, and Javier gets out, and sees the regular trouble makers are out, and drinking, and already fighting with each other, and Javier goes over to them, but ignores them and they don’t say nothing to him as Javier walks up the flight of stairs, and up to the second tier, and he turns right, and inserts a key into the keyhole.
Javier opens the door, walks in and closes the door.
INT. JAVIER’S APARTMENT - NIGHT
It’s dark inside, and without turning on the light switch, Javier walks in, and then we see the lights of a stereo come on, and then music comes on, and we can see from the small green lights that Javier was kneeing and then he stands up.
Cu-Music: 2pac’s ‘Hail Mary’.
Javier turns around, and goes over to something, and it is a table, and he empty out his pockets, and then lifts up his left shoe, and takes it off, and takes out drugs he had hidden in there. He puts his left shoe back on, and then turns left and goes into the kitchen.
The fridge door is open, and Javier reaches in and grabs a water bottle, and then closes the fridge door.
Javier goes over to a rocking chair, he removes a gun he had hidden underneath his shirt, andthe gun was tuck into his front waistband til he takes it out, and then he sits down, and holds the gun with his right while with his left hand he takes a drink out of the water bottle.
He sits down, watching the door, and at the bottom of the door you can see the light shining in from the outside, and then two feet shadow block out the light.
Javier gets up while we see the door knob turns, and Javier leans up against the wall, and holds his right arm straight and with his gun ready to fire once the trigger is pulled.
The door opens, and it is young Mexican man, with his shaved head, and goatee, and Javier puts the gun to the side of the Mexican’s head.
JAVIER: What’s up, Louis?
LOUIS: Javier?
JAVIER: Whatca doing, Louis?
LOUIS: I...I thought I heard something. I wanted to see if you were okay.
JAVIER: You’re damn liar, Louis. Didn’t your homeboy tell you what happened with him?
LOUIS: Honest I was just checking on you!
JAVIER: Without knocking?
LOUIS: I was worried you were hurt!
JAVIER: Without announcing yourself?
LOUIS: My bad!
JAVIER: Looking for some Hard?
LOUIS: Um...
JAVIER: How much bread you got?
LOUIS: Am broke.
JAVIER: Oh. So that’s why you’re breaking in.
LOUIS: I wasn’t breaking in!
JAVIER: Don’t make it worst yourself. How about you close my door and get out before I shoot you before the count of three? One-
Before Javier gets to the count of two Louis reaches for the door knob, and shuts the door while he steps back outside, and Javier locks the door.
Javier goes back over to his rocking chair and sets back down while he uncocks his weapon.
TIME CUT:
Cu-Music: Eazy-E’s ‘Ole Skool Shit’.
There is police siren noise, and Javier gets up out his rocking chair, and goes over to the curtains by his window, and peeks out and sees a murder has happened at the park across from his apartments.
Javier sees a older woman, maybe the mother, and she is crying, and she won’t let the ambulance people take the body away on the stretcher. While the police are handcuffing two young Mexican men, and one of the police officer is holding a bloody axe.
Javier walks back over to the rocking chair.
TIME CUT:
Cu-Music: Bone Thugs’ ‘Mr. Ouija 2'.
Javier’s eyes are tired, and down at the floor is the empty water bottle, and through the curtains he sees lights creeping through, and he gets up and goes over. Javier uses his hand to look out, and sees the morning sun has risen, and he lets’ go, and goes and turns off the stereo, and then heads into the hallway by the table, and the television set.
BEDROOM
Javier gets on the bed, still with his shoes on, and puts the gun underneath the pillow, and keeps right hand near by and then closes his eyes and goes asleep.

Javier is doing push ups, he does hundred, then he does hundred sit ups, then he goes over to the kitchen.
KITCHEN
Javier gets a bowl and spoon, grabs Fruit Loop box, and pours the cereal in the bowl, and then goes to the fridge, and grabs a soy milk carton, and pours milk into the bowl.
He starts to eat the Fruit Loops while taking a bag of Tyson Chicken out of the ice box, and then pours bunch of chicken into the oil fryer, after it is already heated up, and waits as the chicken cooks.
TIME CUT TO:
SHOWER
Javier pours shampoo on his head, and then scrubs it down his face, and then all down his body, and then goes under the shower and lets the water wash it all off.
TIME CUT TO:
KITCHEN
Javier walks into the kitchen, dressed in San Antonio Spurs jersey number 44, and wears black with white baggy pants, and grabs the bowl with chicken onto of the paper towel, and, then heads into the living room.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK - EVENING
Javier is sitting on the bench, and he is whistling, and then finally seven dogs show up, and he starts to feed them.
JAVIER: Hey, don’t fight! Here, Pancho.
He gives two chicken pieces to the smallest dog of the bunch.
Javier wipes off his hands.
JAVIER: Sorry, guys, I forgot to buy you water last night. I will have some tomorrow I promise.
He gives each and one of the dogs a pat on the heads before getting up and leaving them.
CUT TO:
INT. BEDROOM (JAVIER’S APARTMENT) - NIGHT
He lifts up the mattress, and reaches into the cut hole in it, and takes out big bag with crack cocaine in it, and then slowly puts the mattress back into the place. He sits on the bed, and grabs couple of rocks, and then puts them in smaller zip lock bag, and then lifts mattress back up and puts the big bag back inside.
Then he makes up his bed.
CUT TO:
EXT. JAVIER’S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Javier walks down the steps as he hears loud noise, and when he gets to the bottom he sees the young people are fighting again, and he ignores them as he turns the corner at the bottom of the steps, and makes his way over to his vehicle.
CUT TO:
EXT. WHITE APARTMENTS - NIGHT
Javier gets out of his parked Sky Lark, and there is bunch of young Mexicans dressed in red clothing that are hanging outside, and none of them say anything to him because they know who he is, and he heads over to an apartment door, and knocks.
Cu-Music: Flo Rider’s ‘Sugar’.
The door is open by Mexican woman in his late 40's, she is short, and fat, but wears a white tank top like she is a model, and her hair is dye blonde, and her teeth are rotten and falling off, and she is has big smile once seeing him and tells Javier to come in.
INT. WHITE APARTMENT - NIGHT
Javier goes over to the table where there is other older Mexican woman, but her hair is natural black, and she is much skinnier, and she gives Javier the money. Behind Javier there is bunch of lesbian Nortenas that are drinking, and pushing each other while the music plays the song we’re hearing over the screen.
Javier gives her a four small pieces of crack cocaine.
CUT TO:
INT. SKY LARK (MOVING) - NIGHT
Cu-Music: Ludacris’ ‘Stick It Up (Chopped & Screwed)’.
Javier is driving down a street called Gordon, he turns left into a trailer park, and rides couple blocks and then stops on side of a curb.
EXT. SKY LARK (PARKED) - NIGHT
Javier gets out of the Sky Lark.
He talks between two vehicles, and then over to a white trailer, and knocks. The door is answer by a beautiful young Mexican woman, that looks to be in her middle twenties.
She allows Javier to come inside.
INT. TRAILER - NIGHT
Cu-Music: Pit Bull’s ‘I Know You Want Me’.
The beautiful woman leads him past the living room where there is bunch of real young thugs that are Surenos, and then into the hallway, and she opens a door.
INT. ROOM (TRAILER) - NIGHT
Right when the door is open a young Mexican called Bullet just sniff a fat line of coke off fold up table, while his homeboy Gordo is lifting weights on the bench.
Bullet looks up and sees Javier.
BULLET: Javier!
Javier steps in, and the beautiful woman closes the door after she steps out of the room, and Bullet gives Javier a gang handshake.
JAVIER: What’s up, Bullet?
BULLET: What you been up too?
JAVIER: Same shit. Kicking dirt you know?
BULLET: (nodding his head) Yeah...so (brings his hands together) Where is it?
JAVIER: Where’s the bones?
BULLET: Aw Javier I got it. You know am good for it.
JAVIER: Simon, but you know how it goes.
BULLET: Orale homes, hold on.
Bullet reaches into his pant, and pulls out wad of money, and holds it out.
Javier takes it.
JAVIER: You don’t have any pockets?
Javier says as he puts the money into his pant pocket.
BULLET: So where’s the Hard?
JAVIER: Right here.
Javier lifts up his right hand and shows he is holding a zip lock bag with rocks in it.
BULLET: Ha ha you had it the whole time? Still got ‘em magic tricks I see!
JAVIER: Yeah.
Javier gives him the bag.
BULLET: Where you going?
JAVIER: I still got a lot of places to go.
BULLET: Naw man, don’t leave.
Gordo puts the bar with weights back up, and then he sits up, and nods his chin up at Javier.
BULLET: We got some fine bitches coming over. Why don’t you stay?
JAVIER: Naw...
BULLET: Come on, man, they young bitches. Fucking hoes out of high school, man.
Gordo laughs.
BULLET: They wanna hang with the big boys and we are going show ‘em what big boys are all about.
GORDO: (laughs) Simon, ese.
JAVIER: Naw, I still got places to go.
Javier turns around and is about open the door.
BULLET: What the fuck, man, why are you acting like a bitch for?
Javier turns around.
JAVIER: What?
BULLET: You! You acting like a bitch!
JAVIER: (laughs) Oh yeah?
BULLET: Yeah?
JAVIER: You know what I think. I think you are trying to set me up.
BULLET: Ain’t no one trying to set you up, bitch.
JAVIER: (smiles) Orale.
Then Javier swings his arms and punches Bullet across the face, while Gordo reaches down and grabs a shotgun and pumps it, and Javier grabs Bullet and throws him at Gordo who pulls the trigger, and rips Bullet apart.
Gordo uses his shotgun to push Bullet off of him, and when he does, he doesn’t see Javier, and he hears a whistle, and he whips his head around and it’s Javier, swinging a fifty pound weight at Gordo’s face.
CUT TO:
INT. HALLWAY (TRAILER) - NIGHT
Javier is aiming his gun, and couple of thugs with the beautiful woman show up, and he cocks his gun back.
JAVIER: BACK THE FUCK OFF!
The young thugs are doing what he says, so Javier fires his weapon and shoots one of them in the leg, and that thug drops to the floor, and then the rest of them start to back off and make him for him.
Javier steps over the injured thug, turns around while keeping his weapon on them, and then reaches for the door, opens it and then gets the hell out of there.
CUT TO:
INT. SKY LARK (MOVING) - NIGHT
Cu-Music: La Coka Nostra’s ‘Soldier Story’.
Javier is driving his car, going through an alley, and back onto the street, and then turns left, and then right, and drives up two blocks and then goes into other alley, and it’s in the alley where he stops the car.
EXT. SKY LARK (PARKED) - NIGHT
Javier gets out of the car, closes the door, and then leans up against the vehicle. He leans over, catches his breath, waits for his heart beat to slow down, and knees down.
JAVIER: Fucking shit...

Javier stands up, he looks left and right, and then behind him, but he sees no one.
JAVIER: Who’s there?!
CREEPY’S VOICE: Jaaavier!
JAVIER: SHOW YOURSELF!
CREEPY’S VOICE: Here I am!
Javier turns left, and with his fists ready to strike, but he is shock to see yellow glowing eyes in the darkness.
JAVIER: No...leave me alone!
CREEPY’S VOICE: (laughs) Alone? But you belong to me, Javier!
JAVIER: No! LEAVE ME ALONE!
CREEPY’S VOICE: Your soul belongs to me!
JAVIER: I SAID - LEAVE ME ALONE!!!
Javier leans down and grabs hand full of sand and small rocks, and then throws it at the glowing yellow eyes but they disappear before the rocks reach it.
Javier stands there, white as a ghost.

EXT. YMCA - DAY
The next day Javier drives his Sky Lark over to the YMCA and parks it at the parking lot, and gets out, and goes through the opening of the gate, walks passed two benches and over to where two young Mexican in their middle twenties are playing hand ball.
Javier sits on the bench.
One of them a dark skin Mexican misses the ball, and he turns around and sees Javier on the bench. He tells the another Mexican is hold up for a minute and then he goes over to the bench.
JAVIER: What’s up, Cholo?
The Mexican called Cholo wears a white tank top, and he is full of tattoo, including on his eye lids that have the shape of Texas state, and he is very built but he stands at 5'8, and his head is pelon, and his eyes are brown.
Cholo smiles and sits down next to the Javier while giving him a hug.
CHOLO: Where the fuck you’ve been hiding?
JAVIER: You believe in God, Cholo?
CHOLO: Do I believe in God? Man, whatca been smoking, homie?
JAVIER: I’ve been clean. For a year now.
CHOLO: All right.
JAVIER: Do you believe in God?
CHOLO: I used too.
JAVIER: Not anymore?
CHOLO: With all the shit that goes on in this world, Javier, how can there be a God? Well,...a loving one like the bible says he is.
JAVIER: But you believe in the devil, right?
CHOLO: Devil? I don’t know. I do believe in demons.
JAVIER: I saw one. Last night.
CHOLO: Did you?
JAVIER: Yeah. You don’t believe me huh?
CHOLO: Chale homes, I believe you. Shit you’re the most honest person I know. (Pause) I’ve seen demons too.
JAVIER: You’ve?
CHOLO: Yeah, long time ago when I was kid. I was lying in my bed one night and I saw these demon faces...big eyes, big nose, with horns and shit, and they were laughing at me and I was scared for real, but then I started getting mad and started cussing at them. I couldn’t move at the time. My arms felt like they weigh a ton, but when I started cussing at them I was release, and they disappear.
JAVIER: When was this?
CHOLO: Back in ninety-seven.
JAVIER: When you were staying at Nena’s apartment?
CHOLO: Yeah. You just got to be not scare you know? You show them they’re not scared and they won’t fuck you.
JAVIER: Yeah...I still believe in God...sometimes. (Pause) I don’t know maybe I need to get God back in my life.
CHOLO: Go to church.
JAVIER: That’s the answer?
CHOLO: They say God is in church, man, if you need God back in your life I guess that’s one place to start.
JAVIER: Yeah.
CHOLO: How’s the work?
JAVIER: I ran into shit last night. That dude Bullet-
CHOLO: Sureno?
JAVIER: Naw Norteno. I don’t know if he was trying rob me or what, but he started shit last night. Muthafucka got killed do’.
CHOLO: You killed him?
JAVIER: Naw not really. His homeboy did it but not on purpose.
CHOLO: You need to watch yourself, Javier. You want me to take care of those fools?
JAVIER: Naw it’s cool. I got a feeling they won’t fuck me again. Just wish I wasn’t losing business with them you know?
CHOLO: Yeah.
JAVIER: (gets up) Well am head off.
CHOLO: Where you going?
JAVIER: Am go to church.
CUT TO:
EXT. CHRISTIAN CHURCH (ODESSA) - NIGHT
Javier sits at the last bench in the right column, and he watches a Mexican preacher speaking in Spanish tongue has young people knee in front of them, and he touches their foreheads, and all of them fall to the floor backwards and starts shaking.
Then a young Mexican woman comes up behind him.
MEXICAN WOMAN: Hello, brother!
JAVIER: Hi.
MEXICAN WOMAN: Are looking for salvation?
JAVIER: I’m...yeah.
MEXICAN WOMAN: Come on, Pastor Lopez will save you.
JAVIER: Um okay.
The Mexican woman leads Javier to the front of the room while new people are ahead of him, and soon they all line up and knee down, and so does Javier while the young woman is behind him.
The pastor goes on about how Jesus blessed him with the ability to rid souls of demons, and he goes up to the new people, and starts their heads, and just like the others they fall backwards and start shaking and screaming they can feel the holy ghost and start praising Jesus.
Then Pastor Lopez comes to Javier, and he touches Javier’s forehead, but Javier doesn’t fall backwards, and then he tries to push Javier backwards and Javier is confused why the pastor would try to do this, and the pastor tries harder, but Javier grabs his wrist, and then stands up.
JAVIER: What are you doing?
PASTOR LOPEZ: I’m putting the holy ghost into your soul!
JAVIER: O-kay. But why did you try to push me back on purpose? I thought I gotta feel the holy ghost in me before I can do that.
PASTOR LOPEZ: My boy, don’t let Lucifer deny the holy-!
JAVIER: Am not letting anyone do anything. If I feel the holy ghost believe me I will show it, but am not feeling it.
PASTOR LOPEZ: Oh my boy, pray with me!
Pastor Lopez takes Javier’s hands and then starts shaking them while people gather around and Pastor Lopez starts pleasing to Jesus to save Javier’s soul.
Javier pulls his hands away.
JAVIER: Man, you’re player.
Javier turns around and walks out of the church.
CUT TO:
EXT. JESUS LOVES YOU (CHRISTIAN CHURCH/MIDLAND) - NIGHT
The next night Javier goes over to different church in different city.
INT. JESUS LOVES YOU (CHRISTIAN CHURCH) - NIGHT
Javier walks in, and sees this church is just same as others, and but this pastor has tattoos, and looks to have eye shadow on, and looks like motorcycle man too, and Javier sits down next to white couple while Pastor named John talks about the love of Jesus, and Javier sees a Mexican woman sitting next to him, and figure it to be his wife, and he watches how John presses his fingers on her thigh and wonder why does that pastor acts like that in front of people for.
Then Pastor John gets up and walks over to where Javier is.
PASTOR JOHN: Are you here to be saved?
JAVIER: Um...yeah.
PASTOR JOHN: Welcome brother, I’m John, I used to be just like you!
JAVIER: Oh yeah?
PASTOR JOHN: I was drug addict, I was gang banger, I was-
JAVIER: I was never a drug addict.
PASTOR JOHN: I was convict, I didn’t have the care in the world!
JAVIER: Okay.
PASTOR JOHN: But God saved me, brother!
JAVIER: Uh huh.
PASTOR JOHN: God showed me the light! God gave me the strength to over come Lucifer!
JAVIER: Yeah.
PASTOR JOHN: Would you like to join our family?
JAVIER: Um...
PASTOR JOHN: Come!
Pastor John takes Javier’s hand and has him stand up, and Pastor John leads Javier to front of the room, and then he calls on the people to come over, and then Pastor John puts his hand on Javier’s forehead while people get in a circle around him, and they start to pray out loud saying “Jesus”, “Jesus”, “Jesus!”.
PASTOR JOHN: Devil, I order you in the name of Christ!
“Jesus!” they scream out.
PASTOR JOHN: I order you to leave this young man! Out devil!
Pastor John presses his hand hard against Javier’s forehead.
Pastor John looks into Javier’s eyes.
PASTOR JOHN: Call out Jesus, brother! Call out his name!
JAVIER: Okay.
Javier won’t fake, he won’t pretend at all, if he feels Jesus he will say his name, and he does want to be saved, so he closes his eyes, and calls out to “Love” whoever is truly about love come into his heart and save him Javier pleads inside his soul.
PASTOR JOHN: Jesus!!
He heard a name. It came and spoke inside his heart. Javier asked, who are you? And he heard the name again.
PASTOR JOHN: JESUS!!!
JAVIER: (softy) Yeshua.
PASTOR JOHN: No!!
One of people there, a young girl goes: Oh My God he said Lucifer!
Javier heard her, he opens his eyes and turns to her.
JAVIER: No I didn’t!
Pastor John grabs Javier’s arm, and then the people with Pastor John start leading him to other room where there is a three feet kiddie pool.
JAVIER: No wait, am not ready for this!
They’re ignoring his pleads, not caring about his thoughts, and they force him into the pool, and Javier feels the very cold chill go up his body when he legs step into the pool, because the water is freezing, and Javier keeps trying to tell them he doesn’t want this.
JAVIER: No, am not ready for this!
PASTOR JOHN: Hold your nose!
JAVIER: I don’t want this!
“Jesus save him!” they start screaming out.
JAVIER: Listen to me I don’t-
Before Javier can finish his setence Pastor John force Javier to laid down in the pool, going backwards, and didn’t even bother to grab Javier’s nose, but Javier went for his nose just when the water hit his face, and cold chill hurts him, and he wants to jump out of there but Pastor John holds him down.
Flashes of the past through his mind while the freezing water becomes like fire to his skin.
CU-The Flashes
Javier, six years old, in a bath tub and he is being held down by a Mexican woman.
BACK TO:
Javier fights and then pushes himself out of the water, and he stands up, and he is very, very scare while the people look on at him and start singing and chanting “Thank You, Jesus”, “Thank you, Jesus”
Javier stares at the people who are out of their minds, and he wonders what would happened next if he doesn’t act like he was saved, so Javier puts on a act, and starts smiling, and then goes over to Pastor John and thanks him.
Javier is given a towel, and the people go up to him and say, “See Ain’t you Glad Jesus saved you”, Javier nods his head with his smile, and they comment how he can’t stop smiling, and then when the service is over, Javier is the first out of there, and he gets into his car and never returns to that crazy place.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK - NIGHT
Javier sits on a bench, smoking a cigarette, he just brought a pack at drive-thru, and he is traumatize by what happened, he wasn’t scared of them, it was the memory of drowning again that made him so scared.

The next day Javier is across the street from a catholic church, lean up against his driver’s door, and he stares at the church.
JAVIER: Okay. I will...I will confess all my sins. All of them. If that what it will take. I will do it. Just...please come into my life, God, and save me. Help me be better man. Help me be stronger. If this is what you want...I will follow this path. I swear...I swear I will.
Javier gets off the door, takes a step, and then steps off the curb, and onto the street he goes, walking across, and then walks up steps that lead up to the doors of the church.
INT. CATHOLIC CHURCH - DAY
One of the wooden double doors are open, and in comes Javier, and he steps in as the door closes by itself, and he looks in and sees absolutely no one.
To his left, that reaches up to his chest is a bowl with water in it, and he looks and then doesn’t while he goes down the aisle.
At the end of the aisle is a stage, with a place where the priest does his sermon, and behind that is a cross with a Jesus on it, and decorated with religion icons. He sees a door to his left on the stage, and gets up on it, and goes over to the door.
He finds the door is lock so he leaves the stage.
Off the stage he sees the a few candles that are lit, he goes over and notices that you’ve to pay to lite them.
Javier leaves them alone, goes up the aisle and sits down. He looks around the place, not wanting to leave because he is serious about wanting God in his life, and then front doors are open from the outside.
He turns around and sees old Mexican woman with grey, long hair, and she is skinny but wears a light color, long dress, and the woman notices him, and stares at him for a bit, and then she dips her finger into the water inside the bowl.
She knees kinda while doing a cross sign on her head then chest.
The old woman stands up and goes down the aisle.
At the end of the aisle she knees kinda again, and does other cross sign, and then goes over to the candle section.
She uses a match to light up one of the candles and for good five minutes she is over praying while Javier leans back and looks around the place again with his eyes.
Then Javier sees the old woman get up, and she goes and takes a seat way up in the front in the second row, but in same column Javier is in, and then the old woman starts looking back at Javier, and then not looking, and then again, and then doesn’t. One the last time she looks back at him she gets up and goes over to him.
OLD WOMAN: Hello.
JAVIER: Hi.
OLD WOMAN: Are you looking for someone?
JAVIER: Yeah, the priest. I’m waiting for the priest.
OLD WOMAN: He isn’t here right now, he is on lunch break.
JAVIER: Oh.
OLD WOMAN: His house is just right next door.
JAVIER: Is it?
OLD WOMAN: Yes, come on, I will show you.
JAVIER: (getting up) Okay.
CUT TO:
EXT. CATHOLIC CHURCH - DAY
Javier follows the old woman outside, and she turns right, and goes around the church.
OLD WOMAN: What is your name?
JAVIER: Javier.
OLD WOMAN: Are you from here?
JAVIER: No, I grew up else where.
OLD WOMAN: Where are you from?
JAVIER: Monahans.
OLD WOMAN: Ooh. You’ve family there?
JAVIER: Yes, ma’.
OLD WOMAN: I’ve a sister who lives there.
Javier nods his head.
They go up to a big house that was just behind the church, and walk right up to the door, and then the old woman knocks on it.
OLD WOMAN: His security should be here.
JAVIER: Okay.
The old woman knocks again, and waits, and still the replies are not answer, and she knocks again.
Javier is starting to see the big picture now.
OLD WOMAN: Strange. Usually someone is always here.
JAVIER: It’s okay.
She turns to him.
OLD WOMAN: Are you sure? I’m sure he will be back soon enough.
JAVIER: No it’s okay. I’ve to get going. Thank you.
Javier turns around and walks away.
OLD WOMAN: You’re welcome.
CUT TO:
INT. BATH ROOM (JAVIER’S APARTMENT) - DAY
Javier is staring at himself in the mirror that is above the sink while the shower is to his left, and the door is to his right.
JAVIER: What I am suppose to do?
He looks down.
JAVIER: What I am suppose to do?
CUT TO:
INT. BOOK STORE (MUSIC CITY MALL) - DAY
Javier enters the book store, he does aisle, looking at the subjects of the books, and then turns a corner, and goes down other aisle, and doesn’t find what he is looking for there, so he turns the corner and goes into one, and then notices the books are about religion.
He stops, and looks closely at the books’ titles. Then he knees down, and finds a book called the Old Testament, he grabs that one, and the looks around more, and then stands up.
He walks a bit, and then stops and finds a book called Holy Bible, and grabs that one too. He looks some more, and then knees down and finds a book called Lost Teaching of Thomas, he grabs it, and opens it, and sees it’s about Jesus Christ, so he takes that one too. He looks some more and finds the Holy Koran. He grabs that book too, and with the books he goes to the front of the store.
CUT TO:
INT. LIVING ROOM (JAVIER’S APARTMENT) - EVENING
Javier is sitting in his rocking chair, with the Old Testament book open, and he has on reading glasses as he starts from page one of the book, and the rest of the books are on the floor right next to him.
Then his cell phone starts ringing. He reaches into his pockets, and takes it out, and looks at whose calling him.
It’s a number from a crack fiend.
Javier is not sure if he should answer, but he doesn’t have a real job and needs the money, so he decides to answer the call.
JAVIER: (into the phone) Yeah?
(Pause)
JAVIER: (into the phone) Yeah, it’s me.
(Pause)
JAVIER: (into the phone) Yeah, whatca looking for?
(Pause)
JAVIER: (into the phone) Yeah, I got that. Where you at?
(Pause)
JAVIER: (into the phone) Okay, I will be there in five minutes.
Javier turns off the cell, puts it back into his pant pocket, and then closes the book. He sets the book onto the others, and then he stands up.
CUT TO:
EXT. JAVIER’S APARTMENT - EVENING
Javier steps out of his place, closes the door and locks it with a key, and then turns around.
On the same tier is a known hoe, she is still just a kid herself but already has HIV, well that is the rumor that is going around, and she is wearing a t-shirt with short jeans that are cut off high on the thighs, and she is leaning on the rail and has her butt out there.
She starts to eye ball Javier and giving him a smile, but he ignores her, and starts walking down the stairs towards the noising music, and when he gets to the bottom, he sees the same trouble makers that again too drunk and again fighting with each other. The two brothers are pushing and shoving each other, and then one takes off his locs, and starts swinging at his brother.
Javier turns right to avoid them, and goes around the brushes, and then onto the grass and makes his way over to the Sky Lark.
PARKING LOT
Javier notices broken beer bottles by his front tire, and knees down, and grabs each big pieces, and then he stands up and goes across the street towards the park, but he stops at the dumpster and throws the broken glasses inside.
Javier walks back over this vehicle.

The Sky Lark is turns left and goes on 8th street, and there is a lot vehicles out, and goes pass gas station where there is bunch of homeless drunks at, and then goes passed by Lowes, and next to it there is a club that plays Mexican’s music, and the place is filled up with vehicles, and then Sky Lark turns right.
CUT TO:
EXT. WHITE SANDS APARTMENTS - NIGHT
The White Sands apartment area is known drug place, and where hoes stay at, and because it’s so cheap it’s a place where families go where they need a place to stay, and the Sky Lark goes into the parking lot area, and passes two apartment buildings, and outside we see middle age women selling their bodies to men, and then the Sky Lark turns left, and parks in front of a apartment building.
Javier steps out of his parked vehicle, and there is couple of young black people hanging outside of their apartment room, and they’re mad dogging Javier, but they don’t say nothing or make any moves towards him.
Javier walks up some stairs, and then some more and goes to the third tier, and turns right, and walked pass five doors, and then stops at the sixth door.
Javier knocks.
It doesn’t take long for the door to be answer.
It is a Mexican man and his named is Roy, he used to be high middle class boy til he lost his life to crack, and now he hangs around with people that are like him now.
Roy invites Javier inside, and Javier is feeling uneasy because the way Roy looked at him, and inside Javier sees Alex, Mexican age 31, and Josh, a white boy aged 19, and they’re sitting on the sofa and watching television but turn to look at Javier.
ALEX: Javier!
Alex stands up and already has the money in his hands.
ALEX: Five minutes just like you said. You’re better than Pizza Hut.
Javier take the money and counts it.
ALEX: I thought it would take you longer. I was sure it would take you longer.
JAVIER: I took a short cut. (He said while counting the wards of hundred dollar bills) (looks up) This is more than you ask for.
ALEX: Josh here showed up after I called you.
JOSH: Yeah.
ALEX: He put in.
Javier hands couple of hundred bills back to Alex.
JAVIER: Here.
ALEX: You don’t have it all?
JAVIER: Nope.
ALEX: Well, can you go get it?
JAVIER: I got another people waiting on me.
ALEX: Come on, man, Josh here wants to sell his ride to you too.
JAVIER: What?
ALEX: Yeah, for a thousand. He trade it for some Hard.
JAVIER: Alex, what have I told you about using numbers?
ALEX: My bad! I can’t remember all your code words.
JAVIER: I don’t know him.
ALEX: I know him! You can trust him.
JAVIER: Naw.
Javier reaches into his pant pocket and pulls out a rock wrapped in foil paper, and then he holds it out.
ALEX: I don’t want just that.
JAVIER: You want more? Go ask someone else.
ROY: Why you acting like that?
Javier turns around and looks at Roy.
ALEX: Everybody else got cut shit, Javier.
Javier looks back at Alex.
ALEX: And charge way too much for that fake shit.
JAVIER: Then go ask the blacks on the south side.
ALEX: Shit those fucking monkeys will rob us.
JAVIER: Ain’t my problem.
ROY: Not your problem?!
Javier is quick, he pulls out his weapon from front waistband, and then jams it onto Roy’s face.
ALEX: Whoa! Hold on, Javier!
Javier turns to him.
ALEX: Ain’t nobody trying to fuck you!
JAVIER: You already fucking with me!
ROY: Man, we just want you to get some more for us!
JAVIER: Yeah, enough for that car huh? (Looks at Josh) Your ride is that BMW down stairs huh?
ALEX: Don’t say shit, Josh!
JAVIER: The black dudes down there. I bet they will be gone when I come back with the shit huh? But will pop up just when my back is turn, right?! RIGHT?!
ALEX: Javier, I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about!
JAVIER: Yeah right. With this town going to shit ‘cause of the depression you zombie muthafuckas don’t go enough bones for your habit! (Turns to Roy) You don’t think I know about hustlers that been coming up dead lately?!
ROY: It wasn’t us.
JAVIER: I know it wasn’t. But am sure you heard about it (turns to Alex) and thought about it, and decided (turns to Roy) to try it! Man, y’all muthafuckas pick the wrong dude.
JOSH: Hey man, they made me!
ALEX: Shut the fuck up!
JOSH: Man, I didn’t want too!
JAVIER: Is that your car?
JOSH: It’s my dad’s. It was reported stolen.
JAVIER: (laughs) Muthafuckas, you were going to have me ride in stolen car!
ALEX: All right, how about we just forget this! Just let it go. No harm done!
JAVIER: Uh huh. What about them blacks down there?
ALEX: Javier, we don’t know them!
JAVIER: Don’t play me for a idiot!
ALEX: I swear it!
JAVIER: (to Roy) What’s the code?
ROY: For what?
JAVIER: To tell them I accepted the deal?
ROY: We’re not with them.
JAVIER: Lie to me again and I’m fucking kill you, I swear!
ALEX: He doesn’t know shit, Javier!
JAVIER: Alex, you will be next if I don’t get it!
ROY: I’ve to go to outside...
Javier turns to Roy.
ROY: Smoke a cigarette.
JAVIER: Before I leave?
ROY: Or when you’re leaving.
JAVIER: Only you?
ROY: Any one of us.
JAVIER: Good.
Javier grabs Roy’s shirt and pushes him away from the door, and then Javier hand gresture Josh to come over, and he does, and Javier puts his gun to his stomach, and Josh pisses all over himself.
JAVIER: All right. Am go first, and then you follow behind me, and you light that fucking cigarette as soon we go down the steps, and Josh?
JOSH: (scared) Yeah?
JAVIER: Fuck up and I will kill you first.
JOSH: (scared) Oh God!
Javier is caught off guard by the word “God” in Josh’s sentence, but blushes it off.
JAVIER: Sit on the floor.
Josh sits on the floor.
Javier reaches into his pocket and pulls out silencer, and puts it on his gun.
ALEX: Whoa, wait a minute, Javier!
JAVIER: Fuck you!
Javier lifts up his arm, and pulls the trigger on the weapon, and the gun shoots, and hits Alex in the chest, and then Roy turns around, and is going to run, and where too, Javier has no idea, but Javier shoots in the back.
Then he walks over and puts bullet in the back of Roy’s head, and then shoots Alex in the face.
Javier goes over to the door where Josh is, and he is shaking like crazy, and Javier grabs Josh’s arm and pulls him up.
JAVIER: You do what you’re suppose to do you won’t end up like them.
JOSH: Okay.
JAVIER: And word of advice, Josh, get into your daddy’s car after I leave and go home.
JOSH: Okay.
Javier goes back over to Alex, and takes out crack cocaine he just sold him, and then takes all of Alex’s money, and the goes back over to the door.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARKING LOT (WHITE SANDS APARTMENT) - NIGHT
The black dudes are ignoring Javier now, and on the stairs Josh is there, smoking a cigarette, and Javier opens the door, and gets into his vehicle.
The Sky Lark takes off.
The black dudes look up at Josh, and order him to come down there, and Josh does as they say.
JAMES: He’s coming back?
JOSH: Um...
JAMES: ? (Pause) Tweak?
TWEAK: What’s up, my nigga?
JAMES: Go up stairs and tell Alex to come here.
TWEAK: All right.
Tweak goes pass Josh, and runs up the stairs, and James is eyeballing Josh.
JOSH: Shit.
JAMES: What’s wrong?
JOSH: I’ve to go.
JAMES: Go? Go where?
JOSH: I’ve to go.
TWEAK’S VOICE: Shit!
James looks up.
TWEAK’S VOICE: They’re dead! Alex and Roy!
James looks at Josh.
TWEAK’S VOICE: Fucking wet back killed them!
JOSH: He had a gun on me!
JAMES: We’ve burners too.
JOSH: He was going to kill me if I said something!
JAMES: We’re going to kill you too.
JOSH: What?!!
James and his homeboys start beating on Josh, punching at him, and Josh falls to the floor, and then they start stomping on him and don’t stop til his bones in his arms break, and the thigh bone in his legs break, and till his skull is split open and spilling out the brain.
CUT TO:

EXT. SKY LARK (MOVING) - NIGHT
The Sky Lark pulls over, and then the driver door is open, and Javier gets out.
JAVIER: Fuck!
Javier turns and kicks his front tire.
JAVIER: FUCK!!!
Javier starts punching the hood of his vehicle, and doesn’t stop til his knuckles are bleeding badly, and then he steps back and falls onto the street.
Javier puts his hands to his face as blood falls like rain off of them or running down on his arms.
JAVIER: I’m so sorry!
He removes his hands.
JAVIER: AM SORRY!!!!!!
CREEPY’S VOICE: Jaaaavier!
Javier gets up quick, starts looking around, going in a circle, and he doesn’t see the glowing eyes.
CREEPY’S VOICE: Jaaavier!!
JAVIER: WHERE ARE YOU?!!!
CREEPY’S VOICE: I’ve something for you, Javier!
JAVIER: SHUT UP!
CREEPY’S VOICE: Fame, fortune, hoes, Javier!
JAVIER: SHUT UP!!!
CREEPY’S VOICE: All I ask for in exchange is your soul!
JAVIER: No!
CREEPY’S VOICE: YES!
JAVIER: Oh My God I’m going crazy!
CREEPY’S VOICE: Nooo! Not yet! But I can save you, Javier! I can give you whatever you want! Just tell me and it will happen!
JAVIER: Shut your mouth!
CREEPY’S VOICE: Come to me, Javier! Give yourself to me!
JAVIER: No!
CREEPY’S VOICE: I can make all your dreams come true!
JAVIER: God-damn it! SHUUUUT UP!!!!
CREEPY’S VOICE: God doesn’t love you, Javier, but I do! Give yourself to me and I will give you your greatest wish!
Javier backs up against his vehicle because the glowing yellow eyes are in front of him.
CREEPY’S VOICE: Tomorrow the woman of your dreams will come to you and love you! Forever and forever!
JAVIER: Leave me alone!
CREEPY’S VOICE: Give yourself to me!
JAVIER: NO!!! YOU MUTHAFUCKA-!
Javier leaps at the glowing yellow eyes, but they disappear and Javier hits his face on the pavement.
Javier lies there, crying away.

It is dark inside, and then the front door is open, and in cones Javier, and flips on the light switch by the door, and then closes the door.
He goes straight over to the books, and picks up the Holy Bible, and sits on the floor, and starts reading it, and he is rocking back and forth as he talks under his breath the words he is reading.
TIME CUT TO:
INT. LIVING ROOM - MORNING
Javier is lying on the floor, asleep, with the books next to him, and he is wakes up. He gets up and goes over to the kitchen and grabs a water bottle and then finishes it quick.
He comes back into the living room and stares at the books that are lying on the floor.
He walks over to them, knees down and picks up Gospel of Thomas, and he stands up, and when he does a folded up paper falls out of the book.
Javier looks down, and picks up the paper, and unfolds it.

his eyes are wide open and his jaw is dropped.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARKING LOT - BROWN APARTMENTS - MORNING
Javier gets into his car.
CUT TO:
EXT. WAL-MART - MORNING
Javier is walking towards Wal-Mart from it’s parking lot.
CUT TO:
INT. PET SECTION (AISLE/WAL-MART) - MORNING
Javier puts a huge bag of dog food into his cart.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK (WEST SIDE) - MORNING
Javier has the dog food bag over his shoulder as he walks into the park.
He puts the dog food down by the bench and then starts whistling, and he waits, and then he whistles again.
JAVIER: Doggies!! Come here!
He whistles louder this time. Nothing. No respond from the homeless dogs.
Javier leaves the dog food behind and he starts walking over towards the play section area, and then he walks pass it, whistling as he goes, and then he stops.
JAVIER: Oh no!
Javier runs over there and then stops. In front of him are the dogs, but they’re all lying on the ground, and not breathing, and their flies every where, and Javier knees down.
He can see each and every one of them were shot. Probably by fools that thought it would be fun to shoot the dogs.
JAVIER: Ooh dogs...
Javier puts his right hand on the grass, removes a piece, and then throws it away, and then reaches for hand full of dirt, and then he stands up, and starts sprinkling dirt onto the dogs.
JAVIER: Rest in peace, doggies. Go with God now.
He stands up, and stands there, thinking what he should do now. Should he leave them there like that or try to bury them. Javier decides he is going to bury them.
TIME CUT:
Javier comes back for the last of the dog, the smallest one called Pancho, a name he given to the dog, and he takes out long black bag, and then opens it, and then slides the dog into the bag.
He picks up the bag with the dog inside with both of his arms and carries the dog over to his vehicle where he has other dogs in his trunk.
CUT TO:
EXT. SOMEWHERE IN THE DESERT - LATE MORNING
He drove out to the desert, out of the city limits, and took a trail that oil field workers’ trucks take, and he found a spot he hope would be good enough.
Javier starts digging a big hole, and then carefully he puts the dogs that are still insides the bags inside of the hole. He ties the bags good and tight to make sure no bugs or dirt get inside, and he starts using the shovel to pour dirt inside of the hole.
CUT TO:
EXT. SKY LARK (MOVING) - NOON
The Sky Lark drives up the highway, and passes by a coyote on side of the road that was just ran over, and then Sky Lark slows down, and parks on side of the road.
Javier gets out, and walks over to where the dead animal is, and then leans down and picks up some dirt with his hand.
He knees down, the smell is bothering him, but he ignores it best he can, and pours dirt on top of the coyote that has a crush head.
Javier drops a tear.
JAVIER: It doesn’t matter does it? Doesn’t matter if you’re human or animal...(he turns left and sees oil field rigs)...or the earth. It doesn’t matter. People simply do not care.
He stands up, turns around, and goes back to his vehicle while passing cars zoom pass him.
CUT TO:
EXT. BROWN APARTMENTS (WEST SIDE) - DAY
Javier is walking towards his apartments, and outside there are those hoodlums again, drinking while sitting, and one of them is called Loon, and just when Javier reaches them and is about to go up the stairs Loon talks about something that catches Javier’s ears quick.
LOON: Yeah, I shot them damn dogs! It was so fun! That small one-
Javier stops himself from walking up the stairs.
LOON: He tried to run but I shot him in the leg, and he fell down, and was trying to get up but he couldn’t, and then I shot him in the another leg and-
JAVIER: YOU MUTHAFUCKA!!!
Loon, and his three homeboys look up, and Javier turns around, and goes off the steps quick, and grabs Loon and picks him up, and starts slamming Loon against the wall.
JAVIER: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!!
Javier throws Loon to the ground, and then stares at the three homeboys who do not dare to do anything, and then Javier knees down, and starts punching Loon in the face repeatly.
JAVIER: HOW COULD YOU?! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO GOD’S CREATURE?!!!
Then Javier stands up.
JAVIER: Don’t you have a soul?! DON’T YOU HAVE A HEART?!
Loon splits out blood from his mouth.
JAVIER: You’re sick!
LOON: What the fuck, Javier?! They’re just fucking dogs! They’re not human!
JAVIER: THEY’RE LIVING BEINGS!
LOON: So what?! So are the plants, and the fucking grass, dumb ass! Do you give shit about the grass when you walk on?!
Javier doesn’t respond.
Loon stands up.
LOON: Dogs don’t have a soul! Even the fucking bible says it! THEY’RE NOT OUR FUCKING EQUAL!
Javier throws a round house punch and connects on Loon’s face, and Loon falls to the floor again, and Javier kicks Loon in the stomach.
JAVIER: You people...(turns to the 3 hoodlums) make me sick! (Turns back to Loon/looking down at him) You’re fucking piece of shit, Loon!
Javier lift up his leg and stomps down on Loon’s face one time.
Javier turns around and hurries up the steps.
