Re: poverty?
If you read the long technical article on poverty ( I'm still trying to understand it all) you find that poverty has different definitions and factors that scientists use to measure it. So poverty is complicated ..especially when you notice that America has an obesity problem where "poor" people eat too much! And have plenty of living space (compared to really poor places).. and have color T.V.s, cars, etc.
About education ... I agree that this is one important path to "higher" levels of material and civil / social satisfactions. The more you know and higher skills you have the more money you stand to make...etc. In socialistic, totalitarian regimes people are kept oppressed by denying the "education". Also, in some nations and cultures the people themselves value education (Asians for example). So some people in very poor countries may be highly educatyed but still "poor". In America, many people are comparatively "rich" but have very poor educations ... ( criminals that deal in drugs are an example) example.
Anyway, I'll post again when I have read more and thought more about his topic. BTW: I've met many wealthy people who are actually pretty uneducated and dumb. And, I've met "poor" people who are well educated.
Anyway, I've got to go eat a greasy Burger King with fries and a malt.
