My gf & I were at the health store. While we were waiting in line, my gf saw the box of chocolates and pointed it out to me. I only bought one Dark Chocolate just to see how it taste. It's tasty, and according to the wrapper, all profits help to support the Huichols. I also see that it’s Fair Trade & Organic on it.

while looking at it more, I noticed that it was called Shaman (sign 1 to new-agers).

I asked someone who would know about the Huichol mainly bc I never heard of chocolate growing naturally that north. That just threw me off. I felt like maybe I didn't know Huichol culture that much.

From what he said assured me that it didn't.

I know the owner of the chocolate company is a new ager, but my big question is does the profits on the chocolate actually help the Huichol?

Probably not. You know how New Agers are they use poverty stricken groups that most of the world hasn't heard of to push their agenda. Pretending to be different Native American tribe members and pushing alternative cures. Or pretending like they are helping poverty stricken communities with the money.


Fun or well kinda sad fact:

The genocide going on in Sudan by the pro Arab government on Pro African forces is being used to scam people of millions of dollars. The biggest supposed charity for Sudanese victims is actually a huge scam. They made millions last year yet none of it reached the victims in Darfur or southern Sudan. All of it went to their media campaign and their high ranking members. See they make adds on the internet and TV saying donate to help Sudanese genocide victims and really all your doing is paying for the adds and the rest goes to the high ranking officials in the organization.

They actually said it on their site. If I could remember their name I could get you a link. They said in small print in a unnoticable page off to the side of the site how the money goes to "calling awareness" to the plight of Sudanese people and "funding that will be used to lobby to get government to recognize whats going on in Sudan"

I was so pissed when I heard that none of the money all those kind people were donating would never reach Sudanese genocide victims.

I wonder if any of this money goes to Huichol Musical,because if it does i'm all for it?
