yeah, i didnt grow up speaking spanish, they never offered spanish when i was in school, no one around me speaks spanish so i thought its ok that im not 100% i knew enough to just get by but then i spoke to familia from puerto rico and mexico.. oh dear lord!! it was like another language, i couldnt really understand what they were saying.. im thinking of going for a trip to mexico and pr so i decided to start studying spanish again but being around no one that speaks spanish doesnt help.. could just be lazyness lol..
Bah I have an entirely different problem. My step fathers family comes from Argentina they speak all different combos of three languages. Italian, English, Spanish, Italian and English, Italian and Spanish, Spanish and English, Italian English and Spanish(Most of the people who understand all 3 are REALLY OLD), Spalish(mix of Italian English and Spanish which the old people end up using it is like their own code language no one understand half the things they are saying) Spanglish(mix of Spanish and English), Englian(mix of Italian and English), Spanlian(mix of Italian and Spanish). So for me I have to decide between learning Italian or Spanish as well as trying to be motivated to learn either one since even if I learn one I STILL probably won't be able to friggin understand them because they invent combinations of languages.
We are not arrogant enough to believe we are all powerful and we are willing to learn and adapt. When we came to America we merged with the people and willingly adopted some of the beliefs of the people living their if the beliefs were the best thing for our combined people.

Basically, when I was younger, my father tried to teach me how to speak Spanish, but my mother was against it because I was getting so much praise for my English skills and she didn't want to screw anything up... I got a 100 in Spanish at school, so I've skipped a level, which means I had to do the whole second course over summer... but I've neglected it and there are only 11 days left of summer vacation. ]: Blehhh, I'm going to gather some money and go on a Spanish immersion trip summer 2010.

@Vain, how was living in Mexico City? Where'd you stay and stuff?
And Latin Knight, I'd suggest you learn Spanish... it's more helpful in this country at the moment than any other secondary language.

Ya I know but I am so unmotivated to learn it because even if I learn it I won't understand what my family is saying most of the time. I wish I had the money or time to go to Mexico I would learn Spanish fast if I was forced to know it if I wanted to buy food lol.

Well, where do you live? If you live somewhere where a lot of people speak Spanish, there's like, things in the community you could do if you have the time. Gahhh, I wish I could just know the language, haha. Life would be so much easier.
