Well, where do you live? If you live somewhere where a lot of people speak Spanish, there's like, things in the community you could do if you have the time. Gahhh, I wish I could just know the language, haha. Life would be so much easier.
Dude I live in Pennsylvannia. No one would dare openly speak spanish here. New Black Panthers party runs this state.
"“It is absolutely unprecedented for the Justice Department to dismiss a lawsuit after the defendants failed to answer the suit and are thus in default," he said."
They would have gotten a default sentence simply for not showing up but the Attorney General let them off saying their wasn't enough of a case against them even though the case was already WON against them. Not to mention they had tape of the harrassment of voters as well as a civil rights person who worked with JFK who was a eyewitness. No one speaks spanish in Pennsylvannia and their the reason no one would dare they can do whatever they want and get away with it.
Look at the myspace page of one of the black panther members intimidating voters.
This state is black panther territory speaking spanish here will get the crap beaten out of you if black panthers find out. If I ever do decide to sit down and actually learn spanish I will be speaking it within the confines of my own house until I can move to Texas or some other pro-spanish speaking state.
We are not arrogant enough to believe we are all powerful and we are willing to learn and adapt. When we came to America we merged with the people and willingly adopted some of the beliefs of the people living their if the beliefs were the best thing for our combined people.
Wow... it's totally different in Jersey.. you hear Spanish all the time. If I don't get into college at Long Beach, I'll go to Phoenix and we all know they speak Spanish there.

Jersey is heavily influenced by Italians. Italians are like the godfather to Latin Culture. So speaking Spanish or Italian their would be like speaking them in Latin America, Spain, or Italy. Their are some ghettos I wouldn't feel safe speaking Spanish in. Especially after MS 13 killed 3 African American college students and shot another one in the head who survived in Newark. AA gangs are looking for blood of Spanish speakers in retaliation in Newark.

Well the New Black Panthers are a gang with both a military and political wing in USA. So they make it so their are extremely strict immigration laws and stuff and then do whatever they want out on the streets. Their not targetting spanish speakers specifically just anyone who isn't black or doesn't support black people taking over the world. Apparently speaking Spanish makes them think your talking about them behind their back without them being able to understand. They also believe Spanish speakers should speak English in America. The irony that a group of black nationals is so heavily in support of the English language even though it was the English who had their ancestors learn English back during times of slavery is not lost on me. Not only that but it was the English who pretty much forced France and Spain and other powers at the time to have slaves since at the time no one could keep up with England unless they had slave labour.
In most states it's Bloods, Crips, or Black Guerilla Family that harrass illegal immigrants but in PA it is New Black Panthers. They make sure their are few illegal immigrants in the state though so that their isn't enough of them to fight back.
If it wasn't for a good deal of support for them by powerful political groups they would have been destroyed though either through the justice system or through their own incompetence.

I definitely feel your pain there. I can't tell you how many times someone has walked up to me and just assumed I knew Spanish and just went off. I just have this awkward look on my face and stare back at them and shake my head. I'm sure they think I'm an idiot lol, but what the fuck? Some think that it's stupid if you do not know Spanish, and try to bring in the cultural argument about how I should know the language. When in fact, it's a European language. I think it's funny how many people of our own cultural background will disprove of you not knowing the language. I'd rather learn a native language than Spanish if that's the case. Some are just hell bent on the most irrelevant shit ever. I couldn't agree with you more, Vain.
That's ridiculous. The guys supporting NBP are complete douche bags. Anyway, I think this thread is shifting from social issues to politics. I'm going to rant here since I don't feel like making a new topic and it is somewhat related to this topic:
I hate when people just assume I speak only speak Spanish purely by my appearance. I've had countless people come up to me and ask if I spoke English in the past, even one lady talked to me liiiiiike thiiiiiiis. What's ironic is that I only speak English to a fluent level, but a lot of them would never guess it. Sure, I might know a phrase here or there from other languages but that doesn't make a difference; my primary tongue is still English. They like to group me in with the newer generations of Mexican immigrants since we live in a city that has a high number of them. Also, a lot of these guys from Mexico automatically assume I speak the language and will ask me for help a lot of times. It sucks, but I usually get by. That pisses me offff. I'm starting to think this is how Salvadorans and other Central Americans feel. People think if you live in California, have a Hispanic surname and look Mexican, you or your parents must be poor working immigrants from Mexico. They forget that this is former Mexican territory and there were Mexicans living in the southwest for decades even before these immigrant hordes came by the millions during the later half of the twentieth century. A lot of brownpriders fall into this category btw. My type is definitely underrepresented in the states thanks to these newer immigrants being so vast in numbers. There are so few of us compared and our voices are often drowned out by the greater majority of Hispanics. Contrary to what most Americans might think, we don't all support illegal immigration and we don't want to reconquer "Aztlan". We're sane reasonable Americans like everyone else living here with the name Smith or Wilson. We love this country and would die for it because it is our home. And yeah, I do get a lot of shit here for thinking like this. Like a normal person. Ah, well, I guess it can't be helped. Some people will remain ignorant no matter what.
I've definetly noticed that too. Latinos who have had family here for decades or centuries are getting drowned out or being grouped in with newer generations. Also because of the massive flow of illegal immigrants it's led to a lot of criminals getting in which causes negative stereotypes for all Latinos to have to deal with. Some people forget that 32% of Texas's population are Tejanos who can trace their Ancestry directly back to early Mexican Texans who fought against what they saw as oppression by the Mexican government.
That's another stereotype. People always think Latinos want to reconquer former Mexican territory. Not only is that stupid because only about 50% of immigrants from Latin America are Mexican but also the fact that Texans of both American and Mexican background fought the war for independence against Mexico. Ofcourse no one ever seems to remember the fact that Texans of Mexican Ancestry fought on America's side. Some Tejanos are even starting to forget.
