why if a grengo claims pride in his race he is some white supramacist. , but if black or mexican dude claims pride its supporting ones own culture, etc.. just wondering,, i am tired of the double standards coming from all types. all race pride is wrong,, you have nothing else to find esteem in,? and look at the most obvious and unintellectual thing to be proud about?

I think if i went through hundreds of years of slavery and being used and abused by white people, i would be damn proud that now we are looked at as equals and not just a different colour!!
I'm half white, but i know that a looooong time ago white people really fucked some shit up, and you cant knock races for being proud of makin it out of that!

Because people want to act like it doesn't matter. I don't think we can consider ourselves equals to whites until we are actually equal to them. If we start acting like we are, we're lying to ourselves, and that goes for all minorities. Racism still exists.
I agree to a point that it becomes redundant/childish, but only because I'm not sure we have a whole lot to be proud of, other than who we are. The schools teach us to forget who we are when we are young, they want us to forget what happened in the past, and then they want us to be quiet and accept what they hand to us when we hit the labor force. If people don't want to be proud of who they are, then that's their choice, but honestly, I refuse to believe that if I stop being proud of being Tejano/Mexican-American that white people will consider me "American" and nothing else....
Regardless how I view myself, the people with power in the U.S. don't care, they see me as the same person that just swam across the border. They might say one thing, but honestly if you think their actions will change you are ignorant and/or naive.
